"Parable of the Sun"
Read, learn and believe... "I am the sun. Idolize me and you will have light and warmth." The sun announced to thewretched waif. She had nothing, and was grateful for any moment of comfort. The sun's light so brightened her existence, warming heraching soul, that she worshipped it and sought it repeatedly, in the empty sky of her desolate life. As a result, it began to believe itself to be the center of the universe, with all other Things of Creation revolving around its magnificence. So overwhelmed was it, by its own power, it shone with merciless intensity, disregarding the fragility of its worshipper.
Soon, scorched and blinded from the willful indifference to her frailty by the thing she worshipped, the waif had to turn away from that which had brought her solice -- the narcissistic sun."I craved your seductive beauty, your crucial warmth, and have been destroyed by it." She cried. But the sun would hear nothing except the sound of accolades, which it believed to be its due. She perished, and the sun, in its self-important delusion, never noticed that its egocentric insensitivity had destroyed that which was beautiful and good in the world.
Soon...
And the moral is... Moral:
No idol, not even the sun, is so great that its worshippers can be sacrificed to its magnificence. Without them, it is nothing.
